The oyster industry in South Australia has grown dramatically over the past 10 years and in order to supply the growers with good quality spat, The South Australian Oyster Hatchery Pty Ltd company established its hatchery at the groups' Centre for Aquaculture. The latest world wide technology was used to develop the hatchery to provide an intensive growing and feeding system. Pacific oyster broodstock are spawned in the hatchery by our Biologists. From a larvae stage until final sale the oysters are fed intensively and continually graded to ensure that only the strongest spat is supplied to the market place. Oyster spat is sold from a size of 3mm to 25mm in size depending on grower requirements. Our aim is to satisfy our customers by producing what the customer wants, when they want. We work very closely with the growers to help support the industry. With production capacity far in excess of the South Australian Industry needs, we are able to supply spat to other growers within Australia and Overseas subject to individual Interstate and Overseas Government Importation standards and conditions.
